My laptop locks up every few minutes while I am online. It will just freeze on the screen I am on...?

Is it still under warranty? Freezing is bad enough already, but a black screen with a line down the middle sounds like something out of your control (faulty hardware). I had similar issues with a Toshiba that required the motherboard being replaced.
