Muslims how do u react to the death of a scholar?

As a person I didn't know him personally, God bless his soul, from his writings, he was more of a political figure and like most traditionalist had the mistaken notion that the interpretation of the Quran, even in the framework of an Islamic state, must be confined to the ''scholars'', which goes against the Quranic guidelines of sanctions. The interpretations of personal nature must reside with individuals and the state related must be in the collective domain of the ''Ummah''.
