What to do when you've been told a secret and that person trusts you to keep it.?

And you do keep it, for a long time, but tell someone else close to you (who you trust) but that person blurts it out. And you've learned a hard lesson, which is to be discreet and never p on someone's secret no matter how well intentioned but you feel like a lowlife.
